What makes a poster “hand-cut”?

Ever heard of Rubylith? It’s pretty neat stuff! Check out this video of artist Gary Houston using Rubylith to create hand-cut color separations for his original silkscreen posters!

Each design is carefully cut out using an x-acto knife, and then the top layer of red film is peeled away to reveal the final cut image, which is then used to burn screens for printing.
